Samsung has announced the The Freestyle Plus 2026, an updated version of its affordable portable projector, ahead of its official debut at CES 2026. The device succeeds the 2023 model, retaining the same cylindrical design but introducing interesting upgrades in terms of brightness and artificial intelligence features.
The most notable improvement comes for the image brightness — Thanks to an enhanced lighting system, the new model is able to deliver up to 430 ISO lumens (that is nearly double the 230 ISO lumens offered by its predecessor). This increase will help to improve usability in brighter environments, but Samsung has not yet disclosed details about the durability or lifespan of the product. The previous model was rated for up to 30,000 hours so, for now, it remains unclear how the new lighting system will affect longevity.

Artificial intelligence plays a central role in the new model. Samsung has introduced AI OptiScreen, a set of features designed to automatically optimize the projection based on the environment. This includes 3D Auto Keystone, which corrects distortion on uneven or angled surfaces; Real-time Focus, which continuously adjusts focus; Screen Fit, which detects projection screens and adapts the image size accordingly; and Wall Calibration, which adjusts colors to compensate for wall tones.
Continuing its convergence with Samsung’s Smart TV ecosystem, the Freestyle Plus runs Tizen OS and incorporates the Vision AI Companion. This is an enhanced version of the Bixby voice assistant, now powered by large language models (LLMs), enabling more advanced interactions.
Other specifications remain largely unchanged. The projector features a white cylindrical body, a remote control, a hinge allowing up to 180° rotation for ceiling projection, and a 360° spatial audio system compatible with Q-Symphony for synchronization with Samsung soundbars. It also provides access to Samsung TV Plus and the Gaming Hub for streaming content and cloud gaming.
Samsung will reveal pricing and full specifications during its official presentation at CES 2026, which begins on January 6.
