How is Japan preparing for an AI-driven society, and how can people contribute to it? At CEATEC 2026, Japan’s Innovation Platform Agency (IPA) invites visitors to explore those questions through an interactive installation, presentations, and discussions about the foundations that make technology useful and trustworthy.
IPA is a Japanese public agency whose work spans cybersecurity, digital skills, data infrastructure, and the adoption of emerging technologies. Its 2026 CEATEC exhibition introduces a broader ambition: bringing people, technology, and shared rules together to help innovation take root across society.
Visitors can find IPA at booth 6H111 in Hall 6’s X Park, beside the T Stage. The centerpiece, PROTOCOL ENGINE, turns visitors’ perspectives into a collective visual experience that looks and feels like a modern exhibition.
Participants answer questions about the future digital society at terminals surrounding the installation. Their responses trigger lines of light and colorful shapes on an overhead circular LED display, combining with other participants’ answers. There are no right or wrong answers, and the installation requires no reservation.

The Ubergizmo founders, visiting from the United States, stopped by on October 13 and witnessed several panels and presentations. We encourage visitors to make time for the program alongside their tour of the show floor. It is an opportunity to hear directly from people working on Japan’s digital future, meet others with similar interests, and see the industry up close.
Upcoming sessions cover AI trust, cybersecurity, and digital skills on October 15, followed by IPA Commissioner Yutaka Saitou’s presentation on industrial AI transformation on October 16.
Talks at the booth’s mini stage also explore data quality, connected-device security, and how emerging creators turn ideas into products. Check IPA’s official schedule for details.
The presentation builds on a different experience we explored last year. At CEATEC 2025, the founders visited Star Island Schoolhouse, an immersive classroom installation that imagined future ways to learn and live.
Since then, IPA has changed its English name from Information-technology Promotion Agency to Innovation Platform Agency, adopting the tagline “Beyond Digital.” The change reflects an expanding mission: moving beyond technology adoption to connect the skills, security, data, and institutions needed for lasting progress. This year’s exhibit makes visitors’ own perspectives part of that conversation.
CEATEC continues through October 16 at Makuhari Messe, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free with advance online registration.
